GM-LibCom August 24th Flag Day Celebration

August 30 @ 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm

GM-LIBCOM to Host Historic Community-Wide Liberian Flag Day Celebration

The Program Committee, through its Chairperson, Mr. Benjamin Baston, and the Ways and Means Committee, through its Chairperson, Mr. Musa Sheriff, are pleased, on behalf of the Steering Committee and the Executive Leadership of the Greater Manchester Liberian Community (GM-LIBCOM), to officially invite all members of the Liberian community and friends of Liberia to the 2026 Liberian Flag Day Celebration.

The celebration will take place on Sunday, 30 August 2026, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Albert Park, Grecian Street, Broughton, Salford, M7 2JW.

This year’s event marks a historic milestone for the Greater Manchester Liberian Community. For many years, the Koukaipai Women Organisation has proudly organised and hosted the annual Liberian Flag Day celebration, preserving one of Liberia’s most cherished national traditions.

Following fruitful discussions between the leadership of GM-LIBCOM and the Koukaipai Women Organisation, a mutual agreement was reached to transition the celebration into a community-wide event under the umbrella of GM-LIBCOM. This historic collaboration reflects a shared commitment to promoting unity, strengthening community bonds, and creating a single platform where all Liberians in Greater Manchester can celebrate together.

As GM-LIBCOM’s first major community event, this year’s Flag Day celebration promises to be an exciting day of fellowship and entertainment. Members and guests can look forward to delicious Liberian food, refreshing drinks, games, music, cultural performances, family activities, and many more attractions in an atmosphere of unity and celebration.

The Steering Committee extends its sincere appreciation to the Koukaipai Women Organisation for its years of dedication in successfully hosting this annual event and for its willingness to work collaboratively to make this historic transition possible. Their continued commitment to the unity and progress of the Liberian community is deeply appreciated.

Further information regarding official Flag Day T-shirts, members’ contributions, and other event arrangements will be shared with the community in the coming days.

The Steering Committee warmly encourages every member of the Liberian community, their families, and friends to come out in large numbers as we proudly celebrate our national flag, our heritage, and our unity.

One People. One Nation. Stronger Together.
