Youth committee
Providing leadership and strategic direction.
1. Purpose
The Youth Committee exists to engage, support, and empower young members of GM-LibCom
by providing opportunities to participate in social, cultural, educational, and community
activities in a safe and inclusive environment.
2.Leadership and Structure
- The Vice President shall serve as the Chair of the Youth Wing
- The Youth Wing shall select a Youth Leader from among its members, who shall serve as Co-Chair and represent the interests of the youth
- The Vice President shall work closely with the Youth Leader to coordinate youth activities and ensure alignment with the organisation’s objectives.
3. Youth Participation and Activities
The Youth Wing shall:
- Develop and participate in programmes that reflect the interests and needs of young members
- Contribute to activities including:
- Cultural events
- Educational initiatives
- Sports and recreational activities
- Community engagement
- Work with the Vice President to:
- Propose and plan youth-focused programmes
- Encourage active participation and inclusion
4. Communication Structure

- The Youth Wing may establish a group communication platform (e.g. WhatsApp group) for coordination and engagement
- The group shall include:
- Registered youth members
- At least one parent or guardian per youth member
- Membership of the group shall be restricted to individuals connected to registered members of GM-LibCom.
5. Parental/Guardian Involvement
- Participation of any youth member requires consent from a parent or legal guardian.
- Parents/guardians have the right to:
- Be informed of youth activities
- Participate in communication channels
- Withdraw their child from participation at any time
6.Safeguarding
- The Executive shall appoint a Safeguarding Lead to support the Vice President in all youth-related activities
- All youth activities must be conducted in line with the organisation’s safeguarding principles.
- A simple safeguarding policy shall be developed and implemented, covering:
- Safe interaction and communication
- Appropriate conduct for adults and youth
- Supervision requirements
- Reporting concerns or incidents
7. Safeguarding Compliance
- All youth members must:
- Read and understand the safeguarding guidelines (in an age-appropriate format)
- Confirm their agreement before being added to official youth platforms

- All youth members are expected to:
- Treat others with respect
- Participate positively in activities
- Follow instructions from leaders and organisers
- Avoid inappropriate behaviour or communication
- Parents/guardians must:
- Be aware of safeguarding arrangements
- Provide consent for their child’s participation
